Last weekend I was at yet another convention, this time a little closer to home at Collectormania Glasgow. I was super excited as this meant not having to stress about suitcase size and weight issues like I do with the London shows. Which meant I got the chance to not only wear my Babydoll outfit again but also meant I could debut my newest cosplay. I really have got the fever and I love it.
This time I went for Rose Tyler’s costume from Doctor Who episode The Idiot’s Lantern. The moment I watched the episode I fell in love with the outfit (and the shoes! Everyone adores those shoes!) and it was Lisa who managed to talk me into going for it. Because Rose is, well a real person (as opposed to alien or fantasy character like Babydoll) this was more about sourcing the correct accessories as it was the outfit itself.

The dress was whipped together with the help of my sisters mum (I bought a pink 50′s skirt and a sequin boob tube from eBay and had her sew the two together) and was padded out with not one but two underskirts. The jacket on the other hand was a complete PITA to source. I was lucky enough to find the exact same jacket that Billie Piper wears in the episode but in a different colour (white) figuring that it would be easy enough to dye (it really wasn’t!) In the end I ended up buying what I’ve dubbed “the back-up” jacket (which I’ve actually rather fallen in love with ironically) I plan on using this cosplay again so am still hunting for the right one – I thought (once again) that I’d found it but when it arrived it was black and not grey! Args…
The hair. Not something I had to buy but I spent hours upon hours trying to figure out how the hell to make my thin, straggly hair look elegant in a beehive style. In the end it took three lengths of hair extension, two hair baubles, a bumpit, about a dozen kirby grips and a load of hairspray. The method actually came to me while sitting in the cinema watching (the super boring) Cowboys & Aliens the weekend before and thankfully all came together on the day.

All my purty accessories. I don’t have my ears pierced so finding a good match for the earrings was an even bigger pain than if I had. The ring is actually sparkly and nothing like the one she wears but it was pretty! Sunglasses were bought from Peacocks (and featured in one of my good things posts as they were on SALE!!), the clip on flower from my local Poundland and the shoes the best bargain of the lot from a local charity shop for the princely sum of £4.00! My final “accessory” came in the shape of Tenth Doctor Extraordinaire Matt
The end result? Well take a look for youself:

I’m now of course already working on my next cosplay (or should I say six!) which will hopefully be worn at the Entertainment Media Show at the start of October.
